Right now, agentic commerce accounts for roughly 2% of retail transactions. Basically a rounding error. But Scot believes that number could hit 10% by the 2026 holiday shopping season, and the pace of innovation happening right now makes that a lot less crazy than it sounds.
Here's the part that should get every retailer's attention: he thinks things get truly "bonkers" the moment Anthropic enters the agentic commerce space in a major way. These companies are building faster than anything retail has seen before, and the brands that are not paying attention right now are going to find themselves in a very familiar position when holiday season hits.
Agentic commerce is not a future concept. It is happening now, growing fast, and the window to get ahead of it is shorter than most people think.
